The Confluence Project

Modern Swinging Jazz, steeped in the melodic and harmonic tradition of the 1950’s and 1960’s. Saxophonist Johan Hörlen and trombonist Andy Hunter frame their agile instrumental skills in a variety of compositions that showcase the pair as improvisers. The music varies from punchy and tight ensemble playing to open and intuitive gestures, with inspiring and sympathetic playing from sidemen Adam Nussbaum on drums, John Goldsby on bass and Tim Collins on vibraphone.

Confluence carries a double, or even triple meaning. It’s an acknowledgment of the importance of water in our lives, the meeting of musical voices that occurred between the artists on the album, and the sincere hope for a confluence of world understanding and fluidity.

Personnel:

Andy Hunter – Trombone
Johan Hörlen – Alto Saxophone, Clarinet
Tim Collins – Vibraphone
John Goldsby – Acoustic Bass
Adam Nussbaum – Drums and Cymbals
